ABOUT SWETHA!

Swetha Vissapragada (she/her), is a New York City based singer, actor, and dancer. Originally from a small beach town in Southern Massachusetts, she is currently in her senior year of Pace University’s BFA Musical Theatre Program and set to graduate this May!

Swetha has always been captivated by performance, admiring the way it presents humanity and heart on stage. As the daughter of Indian immigrants, Swetha was first introduced to the magic of performance through her family. Between countless Bollywood movies and her Dad’s oldies playlist, a career in the performing arts was always a given. The theatre is home, and reminds her of the vibrance, energy, and heart within her culture.

Since moving to NYC, Swetha has had the pleasure of being in Pace’s MainStage productions of Into the Woods, Putting It Together, and Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as various workshops, short films, and concerts, inside and outside of school. This February she was featured on the Kelly Clarkson Show with James Marsden! She additionally had the opportunity to portray Natasha in Three Sisters, Four Women at Lost Nation Theatre in June of 2024. (“Swetha Vissapragada…gives dimension as Natasha, the major catalyst.” -Rutland Herald.)

*श्वेता | sway·tha | sanskrit for: pure, snow

As a South Asian artist, Swetha is passionate about applying her culture to her craft, because what makes us different is what makes our art shine. This past December, Swetha drafted an adaptation of William Inge’s, Bus Stop, set during the 1947 Partition of India and Pakistan for her Pforzheimer Honors College Thesis. Through this experience, Swetha was able to meaningfully blend stories from both of her homes–the theatre and her family.

As graduation grows near, Swetha is infinitely excited to dive headfirst into a career doing what she loves.

Offstage, you can find Swetha spending time with her family or with a big bowl of strawberries! She enjoys pilates, reading, and the beach.

Thanks for visiting her site, have the best day!
